Restorative Yoga Teacher Training

With Tara Green | May 1 –3, 2020

Restorative Yoga is a gentle yoga practice which uses various props to create a soft support for the body to facilitate a deeper release of the physical body. As the physical body moves into a deeper state of release and relaxation, then the mind is able to quiet down. Restorative Yoga is often referred to as a holistic healing practice, the support that is offered in restorative postures triggers a healing response. Restorative Yoga is both a therapeutic and restful practice, the postures should feel completely relaxed and ideally no physical sensations should be felt. The deep relaxation and long holds of Restorative Yoga postures stimulates the parasympathetic nervous system, invoking a state of calm release into the body and mind.

What to expect in this course:

  • Learn how to plan and instruct a restorative yoga class.  We will discuss the various props available to enhance your student’s experience and offer plenty of support.

  • Explore the lines of energy within restorative postures and how you, as teachers can offer up more support and comfort for your students.

Yin Foundations 25 hr Advanced Teacher Training

With Candace Morrison | May 29 – 31, 2020

Yin Yoga: The Foundations of a Quiet Practice

Yin Teacher Training gives an opportunity to investigate and deepen your yoga practice. Just as my teachers, Paul Grilley and Bo Forbes share, we will explore the phase change in the mind, physical and the energetic body. Adding yin poses to your practice is especially affective in changing the matrix of your connective tissues, your cellular structures and your energy. We explore how this gentle practice, offers us quiet time to relax, hold space, and feel the phase changes. Become the observer and sink into introspection.

No prior Yin Yoga experience is required. If you would like to deepen your understanding of the body, but not be a yoga teacher, you are also welcome to come and participate.

Prior certification to teach yoga is not a prerequisite. This course will be recognized as credits toward your 300 or 500 – hour certification, recognized by Yoga Alliance.

Topics we will discuss:

  •  Key meridians located in the fascia of the body, the energetic body

  • A Buddhist perspective on yin poses

  • Which poses impact the meridian lines and the connective tissue

  • Anatomy and physiology; which body systems, including the mind- body- emotional body connection which are impacted by a yin practice

  • Foundations of a yin practice

  • Origins and history of Yin

  • Understand muscle group that posture supposed to be stretching (functional approach)

Embracing Your Shadow Self Workshop

You can't run from the shadow, but you can invite it to dance. Join us on this journey into accepting every part of ourselves, and becoming whole

We all have a story. Our struggle is the understanding of how to let the story go and choose instead to embrace every single part of ourselves. Every young child, knows and understands kindness, love, compassion, forgiveness and generosity. They also understand greed, selfishness and anger, but they learn that these qualities are wrong or unacceptable in society. The parts of us that we deny as children get tossed behind us into a large garbage bag, and we carry it with us most of our lives. When we begin to understand our shadow self, we start to take ownership and bridge acceptance of the entire person we really are. We realize that we are dualistic in nature, and that everything we see in others lives in us as well.

The magic of this powerful workshop is that the qualities we don’t like in ourselves are those that hold the greatest power and can supercharge our quest to becoming whole.

Testimonials:

I came to yoga for the “athletic” aspect and over the years I have grown to embrace the spiritual side of it.  It wasn’t until I came to Glow Yoga Wellness Studios that I heard of the Shadow and decided to take a leap and join Carol Baxter’s Shadow Weekend workshop. It’s easy to stay in your routine, in your patterns, thoughts and feelings, but this weekend opens your eyes, your mind and your heart. Carol is a tremendous leader, who guided myself and the other amazing people along on our journey; challenging us to face our demons, realize the demon isn’t so bad, and might even be an angel. Carol gave us unwavering support, love, encouragement, a nudge in the right direction, and the odd push off the cliff…with faith that we were ready to fly. The ShadowWorkshop brought me a deeper understanding of myself, how I am everything and that everything is exactly how it should be. I finished the weekend with the tools to keep diving deeper, to truly know myself and love myself, and with the knowledge that I am a work in progress, but no matter what, I am a masterpiece. Thank you! – Amanda

The Shadow Weekend with Carol Baxter was an extraordinary experience. Carol’s guidance through this weekend was very unique, skillful and dynamic. Deep letting go of heavy burdens I carried during my life under Carol’s guidance was challenging but amazing at the same time and started a new way of looking at myself. Thank you Carol & Michelle! – Miriam

This was a life changing weekend for me. I feel like I’ve come back to life and emerged a whole, aware being. Going into the weekend, I was depressed, unhappy, just going through the motions of living. Well, after shadow weekend, I feel like I’ve had new life breathed into me. I’m re-energized and alive. It’s this magical shift that’s occurred within me, and it’s so wonderful. I highly recommend this workshop to anyone and everyone! I think everyone can benefit from this type of inner reflection. I learned so much about myself and am at a space where I am accepting of who I am, and I’ve gained new confidence I didn’t know I had. Carol is truly mystical. Her ability to guide and support us over this weekend is truly what made it so special. I read the Debbie Ford book The Dark Side of the Light Chasers but didn’t connect to it in the same way. Carol created such a safe and inviting space for us to come together and meet our shadow. I’m so truly grateful to her for holding this space for this work. – Emily

Illuminated Reiki Training

With Carol Baxter | Date TBA

Reiki is the ancient practice of healing through a ‘laying on of hands’.  It is a method of healing that dates back 2500 years, and its method had been found in ancient Buddhist Texts.

Reiki is a form of energy healing that works on many different levels, affecting the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual bodies.

We have many profound healing arts in the world today, but Reiki is the only method in which you are attuned to ancient symbols to activate the healing power. If you are looking to expand your knowledge and understanding of Reiki, and begin healing yourself and others, this course is for you.

Some of the benefits of Reiki include:

  • Dissolving energy blocks and promoting natural balance between mind, body and spirit

  • Reducing stress levels and stress responses

  • Lowering blood pressure

  • Accelerates the bodies self-healing ability

  • Increases the ability to sleep soundly

Our method of "illuminating" this ancient art includes:

  • An ancient practice to activate and awaken the 10 energy bodies

  • Understanding the pendulum and how it can be used to direct your healing energy in sessions

  • Knowledge of the chakra system and how to use it to guide your healing session

  • Practice and take home exercises for sending and feeling subtle energy patterns
